Reporting to the Mine Manager, we are looking for a Security Manager to ensure the monitoring of multiple security systems to aid in the safety and security of people, product, assets, and equipment.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Ensure recovery of diamonds is conducted in accordance with the approved mine security policies and complying with the Kimberly process.
- Develop and maintain a DMRE compliant fit-for-purpose Security Policy, COP’s, SOP’s, mine security plan and implementation program in conjunction with the Mine Manager.
- Develop and implement physical security control specifications and guidelines.
- Oversea and manage the contract for physical site security provision.
- Ensure the collection, dissemination and coordination of Threat Intelligence and security risks.
- Consider all security related threats/risks and develop, review and test contingency and emergency plans (drills, exercises, routines, equipment)
- Directly support audit processes by providing relevant guidance, support and experience and advising on security related topics
- Develop training and skill development for security contractor services.
- Develop risk-based strategies considering current contingencies and upcoming events.
- Ensure all identified physical security risks and controls are documented in a risk register, with clearly defined accountability.
- Develop Intelligence based management actions and alerts across all sites.
- Provide expert advice for implementation of industry best practices in security systems.
- Controlling budgets for security operations and monitor expenses.
- Recruiting, training and supervising security personnel.
- Develop, implement, and manage service level agreements with security providers.
- Assists with accidents or incidents investigations and take necessary corrective action to prevent future incidents. Communicate recommendations of findings to all concerned parties promptly.
- Identify potential risks and ensure processes are established to manage appropriately.
- Report non‐conformities and follow up on corrective and preventive actions.
Minimum Requirements:
- NQF 5 or better with relevant security training
- Working knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act, 29 of 1996 as well as other mining related legislation.
- Proven experience as a Security Manager in an alluvial diamond mining operation.
- Experience using relevant technology and equipment (e.g. CCTV, access control etc.)
- Experience in reporting and emergency response planning
- Excellent knowledge of security protocols and procedures
- Solid understanding of budgeting and statistical data analysis
- Working knowledge of MS Office
- Knowledge of business process and functions (finance, HR, procurement, operations, SHEQ etc.)
- Significant experience in the financial aspects of mining such as cost control and budgeting.
- Valid drivers’ license (EB/08).
